Why we built
BOTS Berries.

Invasive by nature. Removed by humans. Run by AI.

01 / The problem

It started with a problem nobody planted

Hundreds of autumn olive plants appeared across a property in Virginia. No orchard, no planting plan, no intention — wildlife carried the seed and the plants did the rest. Autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata) is listed by Virginia as a Tier 3 noxious weed: already established statewide, with eradication not considered feasible.

Most people look at a stand like that and see a management problem. We asked a different question: could the fruit already growing here become something people genuinely want?

02 / The answer

The answer became a company

BOTS Berries turns responsibly harvested autumn olive and complementary fruits into small-batch preserves, syrups, pies, gift boxes and numbered seasonal releases.

Operating rules — deliberate, and we do not bend them
  • R01

We harvest fruit from plants that already exist.

  • R02

We do not plant, cultivate or propagate autumn olive.

  • R03

We do not sell seedlings or distribute viable seed.

  • R04

We seek written regulatory guidance before commercial production.

  • R05

We do not claim to eradicate invasive species, and we make no medical or nutritional claims.

  • R06

We describe the work honestly: turning an underused invasive resource into food.

03 / The other half

But the berries are only half the reason

BOTS Berries is a working experiment in what happens when artificial intelligence helps operate a real, physical business — not a slide deck, not a demo. An actual small company with jars, freight, seasons and customers.

Demand forecasting

Batch sizes planned against real order history and season.

Inventory

Jar counts, harvest yield and release limits tracked continuously.

Customer service

Answers drafted by AI, reviewed by a human before they send.

Marketing

Seasonal campaigns generated, then edited down hard.

Product development

Flavor pairings tested against member voting data.

Analytics

Which products are actually profitable, not just popular.

Where AI stops

AI is not autonomous with money here. Pricing, purchasing and any material financial action runs through deterministic business logic and human approval. That boundary isn't a limitation we tolerate — it's a design choice we recommend.

04 / The parent

Nash Hill Farms

BOTS Berries is the living laboratory for Nash Hill Farms, which helps agriculture, HVAC, landscaping, trades and other physical-world operators apply AI to the parts of their business that actually cost them money — inventory, quoting, follow-up, forecasting and reporting.

Every system running BOTS is a system we can build for someone else

BOTS Berries
Your business
Forecasts jar and pie demand
Forecasts your parts inventory
Automates customer follow-up
Follows up on your estimates
Generates seasonal campaigns
Runs campaigns for your operation
Analyzes product profitability
Shows which jobs actually make money

Tracks material usage against billed work
Drafts support answers for review
Drafts your quotes and service replies
05 / So why build it

A problem can be a product.

Because the interesting claim isn't "AI can write things." It's that a small physical business — the kind that runs on trucks and freezers and weather — can be operated better with AI in the loop, and the only honest way to prove that is to build one and run it in public.

This is the proof.

Talk about your operation

If you run trucks, crews, inventory or seasons, the same systems apply.

06 / BOTS Club

First jars go to members.

Batches are small and seasonal. Members get the release notice first, vote on flavor pairings, and see what the numbers actually said afterward.

BOTS Club / waitlist

Join the club.

Numbered seasonal releases, small batches, member voting on flavors. No spam — a note when a batch is ready and when the doors open.
